High water consumption and low water levels at Logan Pass create water shortages

WEST GLACIER, Mont. [August 22, 2025] – Logan Pass is currently experiencing low water levels. The water supply is insufficient to support the number of visitors the area receives daily. Due to the shortage, visitors may expect to see changes to the times plumbed toilets will be available.
GNP Invites Volunteers to 2025 Annual Hawk Watch Training

GNP Performs Wastewater Inspections on Commercial Private Properties

WEST GLACIER, Mont. [August 1, 2025] – Glacier National Park, in conjunction with the US Public Health Service and Flathead County Health Department, has completed water and wastewater system inspections on private properties with commercial eating, drinking, and lodging operations within the park. Inspections included wastewater dye tests on 10 properties to verify their safety and sanitation and confirm that wastewater is not degrading the park's natural resources. An NPS Fire Chief concurrently completed a fire and life safety inspection of each property to substantiate compliance with Montana Fire Code.
Fall on Mount Gould climbing route results in fatality

WEST GLACIER, Mont. [July 11, 2025] – A climbing accident resulted in a fatality when a 42-year-old man, Brian Astle of Provo, UT fell while descending a steep, off-trail climbing route from the west face of Mount Gould.
Glacier staff and park visitors rescue three people after falling into Avalanche Creek

WEST GLACIER, Mont. [July 8, 2025] – Three visitors fell into Avalanche Creek on Sunday. Shortly after 7 p.m. park dispatch received multiple satellite SOS reports stating that individuals had fallen into Avalanche Creek, and that CPR was being performed on two of the individuals.
Public invited to 2025 “Going Batty” field trip in Glacier National Park

WEST GLACIER, Mont. [June 30, 2025] – Glacier National Park’s “Going Batty” field trip will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, in West Glacier from 8:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, but participation is limited and requires advance registration.
Many Glacier Day Hiker Shuttle ticket reminder

WEST GLACIER, Mont. [June 26, 2025] – Glacier National Park reminds visitors that beginning July 1, private vehicle entrance into Many Glacier will be limited to visitors with wilderness camping permits, commercial service reservations, or lodging reservations. All other visitors are required to use the temporary Many Glacier Day Hiker Shuttle. Tickets are now available seven days in advance each morning at 8 a.m. Beginning June 30, tickets will also be available at 7 p.m. the night before entry.
Going-to-the-Sun Road Reopens the Alpine Sections

WEST GLACIER, Mont. [June 23, 2025] – Going-to-the-Sun Road has reopened after park officials made the proactive decision to close it at 8 pm on June 20 due to heavy rain and snowfall that made the area susceptible to mudslides and icy conditions.
Going-to-the-Sun Road alpine sections temporarily closing

WEST GLACIER, Mont. [June 20, 2025] – Due to heavy rain and predicted snowfall, Glacier National Park is implementing a temporary road closure of the alpine sections of Going-to-the-Sun Road. The closure will extend from Avalanche to Jackson Glacier Overlook at 8:00 pm on Friday, June 20, 2025.
