Dineh Tah’ Navajo Dancers Come to Great Sand Dunes on Friday June 20th

Great Sand Dunes Staff Hosts Family Archeology Day at Fort Garland

Children and their families are invited to join the staff of Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve and the Fort Garland Museum and Cultural Center on June 6th to learn about how archeology has led to a deeper understanding of the Fort’s story. Enjoy a guided tour of the Fort and learn how the buildings were made by making your own adobe bricks!
Great Sand Dunes Hosts Christmas Bird Count on December 31

The National Park Service (NPS) is seeking public feedback on initial proposed ideas for Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve’s Transportation and Transit Planning effort. Staff will share the park’s transportation improvement concept at public meetings and gather public feedback on the initial concept to address challenges presented by increased and changing visitor use patterns.

Free Nature Haiku Workshops October 7-8

Watercolor artist and poet Nancy Arbuthnot will lead 'Nature Haiku' workshops on October 7, 10-12 am and October 8, 11-1 pm. These are designed for all ages, though parents should accompany children under 14. Materials are provided at no cost.
Temporary Parking Lot and Campground Closures for Resurfacing

From August 21 through 24, visitors should expect partial parking lot closures to complete road resurfacing. Pinon Flats Campground will remain closed through the 22nd. On Aug. 24, Montville/Mosca Pass parking lot will be completely closed.
