  • White Sands National Park to Host Ranger Presentation for July’s Full Moon Night Event

    In partnership with Western National Parks Association, we are pleased to host a ranger presentation at the White Sands July Full Moon Night event on July 21, 2024, at 8:00 pm. The ranger presentation will explore the different jobs rangers of the park do to help preserve and protect the resources the White Sands has to offer. The presentation will also cover volunteer opportunities and the park’s junior ranger program.

  • White Sands National Park to Host Mariachi Band at First Full Moon Night Event of 2024

    White Sands National Park will hold its first Full Moon Night event of the year on Friday, June 21, 2024, at 8:15 pm featuring a performance by Mariachi Aguilas de Las Cruces.

  • In 2023, 325.5 million visits to National Park System, 729,096 visits to White Sands National Park

    At White Sands National Park, visitation numbers increased nearly 23,000 or 3% over 2022. The 729,096 visits in 2023 mark the park’s second highest visitation on record. The park’s highest visitation on record was in 2021, with 782,469 visits.

  • White Sands National Park Announces 2024 Moonlight Hike Schedule

    White Sands National Park will host nine ranger guided Moonlight Hikes between March and November 2024. These programs give visitors a chance to enjoy the peace and serenity of this elusive environment after dark and experience stories and resources the park has to offer.

    Hubbell Trading Post, Arizona, in partnership with Western National Parks Association (WNPA), takes their show on the road with a Navajo Rug Show at White Sands National Park on Saturday, October 7 and Sunday, October 8 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm each day.

  • White Sands National Park to Host Traditional Jazz Band for September Full Moon Night program.

    In partnership with Western National Parks Association, White Sands National Park is pleased to have the Rio Grande Revelers Dixieland Jazz Band perform at the park's September Full Moon Night program on Friday September 29 at 7:00 pm. The Rio Grande Revelers are a seven-piece band formed in the Spring 2022 based out of Las Cruces, New Mexico.

  • Tourism to White Sands National Park Creates $50,919,000 in Economic Benefits

    A new National Park Service (NPS) report shows that 705,127 visitors to White Sands National Park in 2022 spent $42,405,000 in communities near the park. That spending supported 572 jobs in the local area and had a cumulative benefit to the local economy of $50,919,000.

  • White Sands National Park to Host Live Snake Program at First Full Moon Night Event of 2023

    White Sands National Park to host guest speaker, Bob Myers from the American International Rattlesnake Museum in Albuquerque, New Mexico who will present a live snake program for the park's Full Moon Night event on Sunday June 4 at 8:30 pm in the park's natural outdoor amphitheater.
